Q. Why should I try Stand-up Paddle boarding?
A. It’s new, exciting, adventurous and peaceful all at the same time! You have a great view into the water from a Paddle board, it's incredible! Since you're standing at your full height, you'll enjoy wonderful views of the sea life, and, you just may encounter dolphins, manatees and/or a school of fish! It’s almost like walking on water!
Q. What can I expect with South Florida Paddle:
A. At South Florida Paddle we strive to provide you with an exceptional adventure. Our guides are Florida natives who grew up in Palm Beach County. The guides have also taken many classes in marine and coastal science and are certified Master naturalists through the University of Florida Master Naturalists program. Our mission is to teach you about the unique ecosystem located here in Palm Beach County. The guides will do their best to show you any animals they can while providing you with a safe and fun adventure. Please make sure to bring your sense of adventure and enjoy the slow paced Island time tour.
Q. Is it hard to learn?
A. Paddle boarding is very easy to learn. Within a short period of time you can become very comfortable in the water and on your board.
Q. Are there any age or weight restrictions?
A. Families are enjoying paddleboarding together! There is an age limit on the Group Eco Tour. 13 and up to be on your own paddle board and must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. We do make exceptions for those under 13 that have paddle boarded before. For rentals, private group tours and lessons the age limit is 7 and up. As always anyone younger then our age limits can still enjoy paddle boarding by riding on the front of an adults board
Q. Do I need to know how to swim?
A. Yes it does help to feel more comfortable on the water. Life jackets are provided for those that aren't the best swimmers.
Q: What should I wear for Paddle boarding?
A: Wear clothing/ swimwear that lets you move and that can get wet. Although not everyone falls in the water falling is part of learning and can be expected at some point during your adventure. Sometimes it feels really refreshing to fall in especially during the summer months!!
Q. Do I need any Paddle boarding experience?
A. No, experience isn't required. The instructor will give you a great introduction to paddle boarding, provide you with all of the necessary paddle board equipment and give you an informative paddle board/safety lesson.
Q: Why not just use a kayak?
A: The beauty of paddle boarding is that standing up allows you to enjoy much better views, both to the horizon and down into the water. Paddle boarding also gives you a nice workout helping to improve you core and helping with balance.
Q: Group Eco Tour vs Private Eco Tour:
A: The group Eco Tour is perfect for those that enjoy being in a group setting and may not need or want to go out their own pace. The private tour will cater to your needs and go at the pace you desire.
Q. What do I need to bring on my PaddleBoarding trip?
A. Recommended items to bring include: a hat, polarized sunglasses (with a strap if you have one), sunscreen, and UV protection clothing especially in the summer when that Florida sun is stronger.
Q. Where are you located?
A. We are a mobile paddle board company located in Palm Beach County. Our most popular location is Singer Island near John D. MacArthur State Park. Our other meeting spots are Jupiter and the south end of Singer Island.
Q. Where do the Eco Tours meet?
A. The paddle board Eco tours will leave from 2 locations. Just outside MacArthur State Park on Singer Island and on Jupiter Island.
Q. Which location is best for beginners?
A. Both locations are nice. The Jupiter location is better early in the morning and during the week. There can be a lot of boat traffic at the Jupiter location and there is a boat channel that we have to cross. The Singer Island location is the "Real Florida" It is a state park, and a protected area. We tend to see a lot more marine life at this location. Depending on the tide level there are mangrove trails to paddle through and nice clear water. This location is also away from boats. Singer Island location tends to be better for beginners and smaller children.
Q. Do you offer group rates?
A. Yes, we do offer group rates.
Q. How far in advance to you need to schedule a tour, rental or Lesson?
A. Everything is by appointment only. We are a mobile company so each day we are at a different location. Weekends tend to fill up quickly so we recommend booking an appointment as early as possible. You can book a reservation 1 month in advance. A notice of 2 days is usually required for reservations. We also require a 24 hr cancellation notice.
Q. How early do I need to arrive for a tour or lesson?
A. We like everyone to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment to fill out waivers and put on their sunscreen. Most of the time there are multiple parties participating, and we are on a set schedule.
Q. What happens if I am running late?
A. It is imperative that you arrive for your appointment on time. Once we’ve headed out for a lesson, we can’t leave a group unattended in the water in order to help late arrivals. If you think you may be 10 to 15 minutes late, please call us at 561-231-1659 and we will do what we can to accommodate you. If you do not call or are more than 10 to 15 minutes late, you will be unable to join the lesson and you will be considered a no show.
Q. How many people do you take out at a time?
A. We max out at 13 people and have a minimum of at least 2 people per tour and lesson.
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. Please notify us at least 48 - 24hours before your appointment if you must cancel. We will be more than happy to reschedule you or refund your money. To cancel or change your class please do the following
A. We may need to cancel a tour if conditions are unsafe to paddle board. This may include high winds, thunderstorms with lightening, or heavy non stop rain. If there is light rain in the area we will still paddle.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
A. All payments are done online through PayPal.
